A few small offerings ~

I have SO enjoyed getting back to my basics around here.
I love making pretty things and I really love to make small things!
Here is a photo of what I've created this past week.

I know it's not much, but I am slow and precise....yes, that sounds good!!

A few lavender strawberries with hand stitched french knots ~
a pair of lavender sachets with vintage doilies and antique buttons ~
baby shoe pincushions with sweet trims, antique lace, millinery, buttons and jewelry!

It's been a good week for me and it always feels SO good to be creating again!!!
My newest handmades are listed in MY ETSY STORE ~

Wishing you a beautiful Sunday precious friends and
thank you ALWAYS, ALWAYS
for stopping my my little blog
to see what I'm up to!

Hugs and love,

Simple stitches ~

I've made strawberry pincushions in the past but I had the bright idea
to make a few that were filled with lavender buds!
You can hang them on a knob or hook and enjoy their simplicity and fragrance.

I just finished this pair yesterday and they sold mighty fast!
I'm always thankful when someone spends their hard-earned money on
something that I've made!!!

I still wanted to share them with you here.
I post my items first on Facebook and
eventually I end up writing a post about them on my blog.

The photos make them look different but I guess it was because
there was different lighting everywhere I took the pics.

I really enjoyed sewing the simple French knots on each one.

AND....I splurged and bought myself two sweet diamond doves last weekend!!!
They are so calm, cool and collected and pretty too...
I just love them!!

I already had a huge black bird cage so I scrubbed it up and now
they are living here with us. Noah has named them some goofy names
from that movie Dumb and Dumber (Harry and Lloyd) and I just let him
but they know they are my sweet babies!

This past Saturday I finally went to Michael's!
I promise you, I haven't been in MONTHS...

Well, they have TOTALLY remodeled ours and it looks wonderful!
I found some gorgeous handmade paper that looks like a muted bronze,
a few seed beads for my next pair of lavender strawberries,
glue that my sweet friend Lisa turned me onto and
some beautiful teeny frames that would look gorgeous
on some artwork....good finds!!!

Another treasure that Lisa told me about...this magazine!
I found it at Walmart and have the first issue too.
This is the second issue and it's GORGEOUS!
If you see it on the newsstand, pick it up, thumb through it and see if you agree.

Now a few photos to share from our home.
This is the field right behind us and they just cut it.
They started baling the cuttings into those huge hay bales...

And here is the field beside us...all baled up and beautiful!

I have one last photo to share with you.
It was so beautiful here in Georgia last week, the temperature was even mild!
I was walking to my car and looked at the porch ~ I had to take a pic.
The giant magnolia tree out front is in full bloom, my ferns are very happy and
the front porch was just so pretty!!!

Thank you always, always for visiting me here!
I wish you a beautiful week and a productive one as well ~

Hugs and love,
Dawn

In my little corner of the world ~

I so hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day weekend!
I had a wonderful time celebrating at my sister-in-law's house
and we were even able to go swimming it was so warm.

All of our boys were there except our oldest Brent, Emily and
our grandbabies Clara and Murray.
They went to Emily's father's wedding in Florida and
Clara was the flower girl. She was so excited ~
Brent shared a few photos with me...
just look at our precious grandchildren!

Another wonderful thing going on around here is that this old farmhouse
got a fresh coat of paint and looks so beautiful!!
Even the metal roof is now sparkly silver!

Rockers on the ready for sweet tea in the evenings...

And guess what? I'm actually managing to keep my succulents alive!
I had to move them off the porch for a few days while it was being painted
and took this photo to share ~

And lastly, I finished two more treasure organizers for a couple of my friends.
By the time they are finished they ending up being really heavy!

I gathered a few goodies from around my studio
and stuffed them into the pockets
to show you how they look when full of keepsakes and treasures.

It's amazing what you can create using a simple drop cloth and old lace!

Wishing you a beautiful Monday dear friends ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

So where in the world have I been??

I promise I've not dropped off the face of the earth!
I've been working on a few more treasure organizers and
truthfully, I've been procrastinating about finishing them.

They are a TON of hard work and it's like a major accomplishment
when I finish one of these babies!

Here are a few photos of my "in progress" stages ~
I have to find the perfect lace for each and every pocket...
then I have to find the perfect button to adorn each one as well.

The buttons are of course all hand sewn on and then I add more vintage lace
to cover the bottoms of the pockets.

And the top of the organizer MUST have a beautiful lace as well.

I FINALLY finished one of the organizers I was working on...here is the photo of
the finished piece. I so hope my sweet customer loves it!

Also, I've got to share this....a must-have magazine I just bought!
You will love everything inside, I promise ~

And lastly, a few quilt scraps I found while antiquing a few days ago.
I'm ready to work on something small and these will be PERFECT
for some pretty needle books!!!

Please forgive my absence...I've been planting flowers, succulents and even rose bushes!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
